Continuing our unit on Buoyancy and Density, I thought this would be a fun experiment to conduct at home. What happens when a carbonated drink (soda) and raisins meet? Why don't you find out? Try this experiment at home. Materials you will need:
● clear, carbonated beverage such as sprite or club soda
● Tall, clear drinking glass
● Several fresh raisins
1. What to do: Fill the glass with your clear, carbonated beverage. Drop a few raisins into the glass and observe.
2. What happens? Try the experiment first and then watch the video below with Professor It.
You may also want to try:
· Comparing raisins in soda to raisins in other liquids (like water or juice)
· Testing the buoyancy of other small objects (like pasta, beads, chocolate chips)
Have FUN!!!!
